A new show I really like lately has been Ugly Americans; it’s just a nice type of comedy. This show is set in an alternate USA, where people live side by side with monsters, demons, wizards, zombies, vampires and various other such creatures. It’s nicely animated and the characters are all fairly interesting.

Its set in New York, our main character is Mark Lilly. Having recently moved to the city and working as a social worker we follow him around the city having to solve the many problems which come from integrating monsters into the American population. His workmate Leonard is an alcoholic five hundred year old wizard. Mark’s roommate is Randall Skeffington; a frat dude gone zombie who is absolutely hilarious. Callie Maggotbone, daughter of the devil, is his boss but also has a semi-fling like relationship going on.
The show has very parody based when it comes to the story lines and I think they do it in a really funny way. For example one episode is based around Randall “coming out” to his parents about having become a zombie. You could argue that some of the episodes are a little cliché but I think the supernatural twist is really fun. I really like the style of the animation and the voice actors really suit the characters. Everything just seems to fit well and there’s nothing I don’t like about the show, really. I would compare it to The Simpsons, possibly even Archer to a small extent.
The show was originally thought up by Devin Clark, who I have no information on at all. It was then developed by David M. Stern, writer for The Simpsons, and should have seven episodes in the first season. I’ve watched up to episode six so far and I just love it. The first episode got over two million views and hopefully that’s kept up as I really want this to continue. It’s good and stuff like this usually ends up getting cancelled.
