So I realise my last posts on Man Men didn’t really actually tell you much about the show itself. Trying not to give any spoilers away I ended up with generalisations which you would have to actually watch the show to understand. So following; the show Mad Men, a brief understanding.
The introduction to the first episode we’re told the term “Mad Men” came from the 1960’s, when this is set, and it described those working in the advertising industry. Focusing on their outlandish lifestyle the show sees them drinking, smoking and working barely an hour a day. They extend this beyond the workplace by way of affairs, failing or troubled marriages.

The show focuses on the life of Don Draper, a highly performing employee of Leo Burnett advertising agency. He is a rising star who doesn’t ever seem to fail, pulling out the best ideas at the last second. His ability to market products excels beyond that of the small agency and is portrayed as the perfect example of his profession. He’s considered quite private in his personal life by fellow Leo Burnett employees, a mysterious past which haunts him even now. Us, as the audience, get much more insight and it’s done in a way which avoids one of my pet peeves.
Tomorrow’s post will be about this peeve and then on Wednesday will be my final thoughts on this show. (And my last post on Mad Men ever, I swear it.)
