I need to read more

I’m sure most of you don’t care.

As Bill Hicks joked: “Well, it looks like we got ourselves a reader.”

No, but seriously I’m really not. I mean I hardly ever read and although when I was a bit younger I did a lot, I sorta’ just stopped. I mean I still CAN read, I’m subscribed to various RSS feeds for news, comics and celebrity gossip. I’m rereading what I wrote just then, my eyes are averagely good, so it’s not an issue of sight or ability. I still find it fun, even, I enjoy the idea of it, books are good and I don’t need explosions to make things bearable.

Hell, I’ve even been putting serious thought into buying an E-book reader. I’ve still got a pretty active Amazon account; I buy a lot of books. I just don’t seem to read them anymore. Maybe it’s a time issue, I used to read when I was in bed, now I go to bed at the last possible minute and so can’t do that. I see people reading on the train but I’ve only got two stops so that’s not very logical. I think people read a lot when they go on holiday, but I’ve not done that in a while.

I need to start reading again, which is going to take a conscious effort now, it seems. I do think that by purchasing an e-book reader it will encourage me to read more, but before I do that I’ve got to finish at least one of the new books I have but haven’t even opened yet.
