I’ve really gotta’ say here. I like spending money, it’s not only because I hate having a bank balance or that I actually “value” the effort I put into work. I just like stuff. Stuff. Beautiful, technical, new and amazingly brilliant stuff. The packaging, that “new” smell independent to each industry; be it book, boardgames, technology or just a recently opened Red Bull, there’s something about the fact that it’s new and untouched.
This is often an issue, every day I find myself surfing the net, over two thirds of my bookmarks are just “stuff I want” or “Websites which sell things.” Regardless of it’s geographical location, every business online will send me stuff RIGHT TO MY DOOR. Amazing. Not only that! I’ve even got an online bank account, letting me check my balance at home at any point. I have PayPal, I have Google Checkout account! My Debit Card in hand I’ve got access to money and with Firefox I can go virtually window shopping, I can buy every bloody item any idiot with a merchants account wants to try and sell me. And I will consider it.

From the larger companies, Apple has me hooked; I will buy every single iPod ever created if my bank would just approve that “I want to be a hipster” loan I constantly beg for. Shirt.Woot will constantly offer me a new T-shirt every single day! and for around the $15-$25 mark I can have that mailed to me faster than I could wikipedia the T-shirts origin. Suck UK can give me quirky yet stylish gadgets with free shipping! Telling me the
stuff I didn’t know that I needed, actually exists already. Play.com selling me the DVD’s, CD’s and yet more Gadgets that fill my life with content, again with free shipping! I have Steam to digitally and instantly buy, download and play the newest video games straight from then on my PC. I have Amazon selling me books, now even technical stuff like video cameras and external hardrives in a very cheap way, with fast and trustworthy shipping. I have DrinkStuff, the best website for alcoholic yet social degenerate gamblers in the world, selling everything from the booze itself to the equipment needed to build your own bar. It really is an amazing site. (This is just to name a few of my most visited sites.)
The amount of stuff I want to buy, from the newest and most expensive laptops, the coolest T-shirts and some questionably legal items (which I won’t go too much into.) New packs of playing cards, cases for my Phone and iPod Touch, USB shit for my laptop and as many gadgets they can ship me as often as I can afford them. Having a keen interest in Caffeine, Booze, Poker, Hot Girls and Technological Wonders; I always find stuff I can obsess over and want to buy.
I have one unfortunate problem, of course, that which is the lack of any sort of regular income or wage to help contribute towards this overwhelming need embedded into my nature. Thank the lord that I’ve not got my Credit Card quite yet. At some point my financial footprint will explode into unrepayable debt, lets just hope I get a decent job faster than the the creditors can catch up with me.
I really wish this was a paid advertisement, promotion, sponsorship or endorsement. It’s not, shamefully. I just generally like those sites and needed to write about something. I coulda’ used the money.
The two pictures are of… Left: The Fifth Generation iPod Nano with Video Camera from Apple. Something I have been considering buying for a while now. Right: DrinkStuff’s “Quaffer Shot” glass, specifically designed in order to have both your shot and chaser all in one. (A small hint to DrinkStuff; if you wanna send me a couple I’d love to give ‘em a review. They really do look interesting.)
