I’m currently in the market for a phone. I’ve been for a while, but it’s so hard to find one I actually want. There are too many bloody choices. What’s worse, when I find a phone I want I then end up finding it was discontinued. (A’ Lal: Blackberry Pearl Flip)
Basically, I want a phone which has a good e-mail and twitter facility. Looking at the blackberry’s they’re probably best but the QWERTY keypad is just a little odd for me. The annoying thing was that the Flip’s keypad was actually one I could get used to but that’s not an option since it was discontinued. Now I’m looking at the LG KS360, it’s kinda old and I’m not sure about the e-mail capabilities but it looks OK for texting. I’m not 100% though and actually the HTC Hero actually looks better, being able to put Twitter on the front page, but it’s not a payasyougo phone.
Using Orange I can get a £10 “Sim-only” contract which gives me 200 minutes and unlimited texts. On top of that I have the option to add a £5 a month in order to get unlimited e-mail/web browsing. That’s only £15 ($25) a month on an 18month contract. I just need to buy a phone, I’m thinking the Samsung Tocco Lite or the LG Cookie, both fairly similar and both extremely popular of late.
But my point here, seriously, why do we need so many different variation in the phones we buy. The Tocco Lite and LG Cookie are different phones but from what I can tell; exactly the same. A big problem of today is being blinded by choice, well I’m paralysed. Some of this stuff just seems like choice for choices sake.
